Day 7

After a good night sleep, our first full day as a family. Last night we all went to bed really early as we were exhausted after a very emotional day.

We had a really nice dinner together with Marie and Jan from our guesthouse to toast on the arrival of Bonga and to party the big event a bit with someone, especially as we our so far away from our family and internet and phone connections are not that easy.

For all the future adoptive parents, we have a food tip: if you can not go out, go to Woolworth and buy some prepared meals. They are great, they really taste homemade and are very very fresh. We have become a really big fan of the place and it is only 5 minutes away from our guesthouse.

For the children, the first night was a long one. Wim and I did however not sleep that well as we were expecting Bonga to wake up every 3 hours. He did not, he slept through his first night “like a baby”. He does have however a little cold and he snors amazingly for such a little baby. We heard every breath, every snor and thus did not sleep much.

At 9 o’clock in the morning, Elzeth, our social worker came to visit us, so we had to get up early anyway. We had to prepare the court documents, but mainly it was to check if we were doing fine. And we feel that we are. We think he is an amazing baby, very playfull, loving human contact, very smiley and by times even already very loud, when he tries to talk to us. He wants already to stand on his feet and love playing music in his little music chair…

Miro and Bonga get along really well, he smiles a lot to her and she gets all exited when he does.

It was not a great day temperature wise. The cabin became a bit damp due to the heavy rainfall and Miro especially needed some exercise. In the afternoon, we decided to go to the Waterfront to visit the 2 Oceans aquarium which was great. We all loved it. It was the most beautiful aquarium we have ever seen and Miro just loved it. She was running from one place to another, getting more exited with every small or big fish she saw. She played the guide of the aquarium and gave us a live report of everything she saw…

She will have stories to tell when we are back…
