... our suitcases are packed, Bonga's room is emptied and ready to be furnished (the guestroom is now in the attic, you will need to climb a little bit higher when you come visit us), pasports are ready, all paperwork is completed, all reservations are made ... Even Miro is ready to go, as you can see from the picture...
Only details left and for sure we will forget some things, but South Africa is not the end of the world so I am sure we will be able to find what we need over there...
The most difficult packing was for Bonga... Even though Miro is only 2,5y, it is already very hard to remember what a 5 month old baby needs and is able to do... It is also hard to judge based on height and weight which size of clothing he needs. The last days I spent sorting out Miro's baby clothes, try to select the good seize in a style also acceptable for boys (i.e. not hot pink or flowerly ;-) ). Luckily Anne, Wim's sister, still had the baby clothes of her boys and I found some stuff in there as well...
In addition, the weather in and around Cape Town is not good for the moment: it is really winter, with temperatures around 15 degrees! Thus no summerly clothing for us, in stead we packed long trousers and warm pullovers... A bit less exotic, however, a delicious South African blend in front of an open fire is not bad at all! In fact, we will spend the second half of our stay in Stellenbosch at a wine estate...
And at least I will not be in a cast! Yes, no more cast, in stead heavy walking boots which give my foot sufficient support... I had to try out the last 2 days if this worked, otherwise I would have to get back to the hospital and get an artificial cast and so far so good... I need some time to "learn to walk again" and feel comfortable, but with my boots I am able to slowly move around. I will not be running in two days time, but I will be able to step into the airplane without crutches! Yipee!
